Our Story

Briar Road was born from a love of literature, design, and the quiet art of intentional living. At its core, it’s a brand built on storytelling - where academic elegance meets small-town charm. Rooted in nostalgic romanticism, the brand blends dark-academic sophistication with a tomboy-chic edge and brings together our Midwest roots and the classic prep traditions of the East Coast.

The brand was conceptualized in 2023 and finally found its name in New England in 2024, but our story begins in the heart of North Dakota, where twin sisters Jenny and Jill Kleinknecht were raised.

We grew up under open skies and along winding country roads of the Midwest, carrying with us a deep appreciation for heritage, nature, and the stories that shaped us. Twins by birth, our paths first diverged - Jenny into the world of fashion, styling and PR in Los Angeles, Jill into nursing at UCLA, one of the nation’s top hospitals - before reuniting on the road. It was there, traveling city to city, coast to coast, that Briar Road truly began to take form.

Candid photo of Briar Road founders outdoors sharing a relaxed moment, highlighting sisterhood, storytelling, and intentional living.

Today and in the future, Briar Road offers a wardrobe of heritage-inspired staples: varsity silhouettes, oversized tees, cozy knits, and lived-in sweats. Our pieces are made for those who love quiet mornings by the lake with a book, candlelit evenings in a library, or windswept afternoons exploring country back roads.

Every sweater, tee, and jacket is designed not just to be worn, but to be lived in - carrying your story forward. Each piece is more than clothing; it’s a chapter; a small part of a life well-told.
